A message from LifeWorks, our new employee assistance program (EAP) and work-life/wellbeing resource (replaces OPTUM):
As of July 13th, up to 14,000 people are reported as being displaced due to the ongoing wildfires in British Columbia’s interior.~ The province has declared a state of emergency, and has established a relief fund for impacted communities.

Our thoughts are with those who have been affected. Emergencies and natural disasters, whether they hit close to home or far away, may increase feelings of stress, worry, and anxiety. If you or someone you love is experiencing difficult or painful emotions, remember that the LifeWorks program can help. You can call 1-888-307-0590 anytime to speak to a caring, confidential consultant. Help is available 24/7, whenever you need us. You can also visit the Life section of your LifeWorks app or website (login.lifeworks.com) for helpful resources, including articles such as “Coping with Fears After a Traumatic Event,” “Steps to take After a Flood, Fire or Other Disaster,” and “How the EAP Can Help in a Crisis.”~ Our intake team has been briefed on the situation and has access to resources that can be shared to support individuals, or managers who are looking for information and/or support. We have our immediate support counsellors on standby to speak with individuals in need of help. (July, 2017)
